Oh Uncle Iroh

So, I worked at the same store for two years, longer than any employee the store has ever had. I busted my ass for these people, and I put up with a lot of shit. My first summer there, I worked forty hours a week every week. And most weeks I would work off the clock so they wouldn’t have to pay me overtime.
In February, a co-worker started harassing me. I had watched her cat while she was gone for four weeks and ate about $100 worth of food in her house. She had the cat for only month before she left (knowing she was leaving) and had never had a pet of her own before. She is a trust fund baby and doesn’t pay for anything. She just has to have a job in order for her family to pay for everything. I have no one. We are not friends, and I uprooted my life to move in and take care of her cat for free (leaving my own kittens with my negligent roommates, which she knew). She kept sending me the most insane text messages, normally while she was at work, but also at all hours of the day and night. At work, I asked her to please remain professional, to which she responded by yelling at me for 45 minutes straight — swearing, insulting, etc. — to the point where another employee had to come back and tell her customers could hear her screaming. I didn’t want to leave to store because the only exit is in the front, which would mean she would have followed me screaming in front of customers. I didn’t want to hurt business.
I really worried about whether or not to tell my manager, whose parents owned the store. My sister and a new co-worker thought I was crazy not to say something, so I did. The manager said he the girl had told him we weren’t getting along (not about the previous day) and he wasn’t getting involved unless it happened in the store. I told him the only reason I brought it up was that it happened in the store, on the clock, and customers complained. He said he wasn’t going to do anything.
A month later, her cat got sick and she blamed me. She went crazy again, but I luckily had a really great co-worker at the time who helped me sneak out before she flipped out like before. She had been leaving the store a total mess for me in the mornings, but that weekend was worse than usual. I’m such a hard worker and wouldn’t even take a five minute break, and yet she left me a nasty note telling me to do more (while she sat around doing nothing for hours, I learned). I told my manager I was quitting and giving my two weeks noticed. He was shocked and asked why, but then he put the (very obvious) puzzle together himself and said I didn’t have to work the two weeks but that I could come back any time. His parents sent me an email saying I could come back at any time, too.
So, I learned about three weeks ago that the crazy co-worker is leaving the store. I emailed the parents, asking how they were and if they had any positions available. I haven’t heard back from them. I’m really angry. I can say without a doubt that I was the hardest working employee they ever had. The crazy girl was without a doubt the laziest and responsible for a lot of workplace drama outside of this incident.
I explained everything in full (this is a remarkably concise account) to my school’s psychiatrist and she said it seemed like the co-worker maybe had some personality disorder or something. She made me feel so unsafe, and now I don’t even have a job. I don’t know what to do. I’m thinking about calling them — they don’t have my number because I had to change it to get away from her harassment.

cheating is just so dumb and it makes me angry like why do you have to be such an inconsiderate prick and remember that you’re in a relationship and that your partner also has feelings and you’re choosing to fuck them over. if you really want to be with another person just BREAK UP WITH THE PERSON YOU’RE WITH AND DON’T BE AN ASSHOLE ABOUT IT
I took human sexuality two semester ago and during one of our classes bunch of guys said, “Well, if I break up with my girlfriend, she’ll cry.” I was like, “Um, and she won’t cry when she finds out you’ve been cheating on her and lying to her for who knows how long?” They didn’t know what to say.
